Does web design need education?

The profession of web designer is now becoming one of the most sought after. Every month, thousands of new people with burning eyes appear who think that this is their vocation for life.

However, half of them merge at the first difficulties, another part of professional professionals reaches a certain level in knowledge, and then they stand in one place in development, as a result of which they earn a penny, and at the same time they have a million sense of self-worth.

Only a few, those who are in constant improvement, manage to reach a good, stable income. However, how to become the same “unit”? Is it possible to get a full body of knowledge in courses, or is it better to try to engage in self-education?

Web Design Education Options
A web designer is distinguished from his colleagues working in the field of standard design and other related fields (fashion designers, landscape designers, etc.) by a technical mentality. A similar feature is not given to a person from birth, it needs to be constantly developed. There are several key forms of education in web design.

Find out more
These can be specialized offline courses in this area, which usually last 2–3 months. They rarely talk about the basics and origins of this profession. Often there is immediately a deep immersion in narrowly focused topics (working with Photoshop, creating a modular grid, etc.), that is, if you are communicating with a computer through a lawyer, it is better to pause with this matter and master PCs and basic programs.

You can get web design knowledge in distance education format. Most beginners in this field go exactly this way, because it is simpler and requires less cost. There are a huge number of step-by-step video courses on web design, thanks to which you can master the base. However, you should be careful here.

Many successful “gurus” have divorced on the Internet, who have not yet learned anything really themselves, however, they are already teaching something else to earn more gold piastres. Pay attention to reviews, make sure they are real, not fake. Learn the teaching methodology, topics that will be covered, and only then make a choice: go here, or better not.

The most popular option for further education in web design is self-education. There are many useful resources, both paid and free. For example, this blog. You read it for free, but you get valuable information that directly affects your development in this topic.

Self-education works, but strict discipline is needed here. Often people after 6-12 months of experience in web design begin to think that they already know everything and stop developing – this is a disastrous way. It is ideal, in my opinion, to combine all the options to get the maximum result in the form of knowledge, which is then converted into an increase in income.

Web Design Courses
As I mentioned above, in the courses with you it is unlikely that someone will panic and talk about how to move files from one folder to another if you suddenly decided to quit the profession of a locksmith and become a web designer. Basic training should be. It means the following set of components:

knowledge of the interface of the Windows operating system;

skills of quick search of information in search engines;

at least some idea of what html markup is;

basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop;

minimal knowledge of English.

The last point is important for the reason that basically the entire set of programs that are used in the courses have an English interface.

Racial and age restrictions are usually not provided for courses, so if you are an elderly orc with protruding tusks from your ears, then that’s okay. However, in such a case, it is better to give preference to distance learning, so as not to injure the psyche of colleagues in the workshop.

What is taught in web design courses?
After completing one of the courses, you are unlikely to become a web design master, however, be sure to lay the necessary foundation. Within 30-50 academic hours, teachers will present a complex of basic knowledge, without which full-fledged website development is not possible. Offline or online courses are a kind of higher education in web design, after which a person can:

to develop full-fledged web pages containing a complete set of graphic and text elements;

create layouts of complex sites and transfer them to the Internet;

competently and beautifully design the structure of the web page;

harmoniously combine individual graphic elements into a single picture;

make good use of the free space of a web page.

Employment Benefits
If you are going to take courses not for the sake of knowledge, but only behind a crust, in order to get a job in a big company later, then such an idea can hardly be called expedient.
